Day Trips Worth the Ride
Plenty to do while staying at Blue Lady Resort!

If you need a break from the water activities on Lake Norfork, there are plenty of other fun and adventurous activities for everyone to do near the resort. We’ve tried to capture some of the favorite activities.

Blanchard Springs Cavern
This is one of Margie’s favorite day trips. An hour’s drive from Mountain Home, explore an active cavern where stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and flowstones are still forming. The cavern offers three levels of tours – Dripstone Trail on first floor that is for all levels; Discovery Trail for a more strenuous hike through the upper level; and the Wild Cave Tour for the adventurous that want to hike steep slopes, crawl on your belly and get dirty while exploring the middle level of the cavern.

You can make a full day of this outing by hiking to a nearby waterfall or go shopping and have dinner in the town of Mountain View, AR. Or visit the Ozark Center right near the cavern where you’ll see local crafts made and discover the history of the area. On your way back to the resort, stop by Calico Rock and enjoy the beauty of the rock cascades.

Norfork National Fish Hatchery
Children and the young at heart will enjoy this outing. Norfork National Fish Hatchery is a cold water hatchery that raises trout for the local rivers. Be sure to bring a few quarters to buy fish food so you can feed the trout.

Adjacent to the hatchery is Dry Run Creek, which allows fishing for persons under age 16 and disable anglers. Fishing is catch and release only and artificial bait is the permitted only. The kids are sure to catch a fish here.

War Eagle Mill
For a real treat, visit the War Eagle Mill in Rogers, Arkansas. It is an authentic reproduction of Arkansas first grist mill built 90 years. War Eagle River powers an 18 foot Arkansas cypress water-wheel running the millstones. The daily grind produces health, whole grains that are sold as flour and mixes. Everything is all natural. The Bean Palace is a restaurant that is open 7 days a week from March through January and offers breakfast and lunch entrees made from these natural grains. Enjoy!

Golfing Near Blue Lady Resort
We have two golf courses in Mountain Home – Twin Lake Golf Course and Big Creek Golf Course. Both clubs offer resort guests a discount so be sure to ask us about seasonal specials.

Gaston’s Visitor Center
This 15,744 square-foot museums sits on a bluff overlooking the Bull Shoals-White River State Park. It is a great place to learn the history of the area and see replicas of the local wildlife.
